ALAMEDA LANDING

Shopping galore, new homes, and an easy commute to San Francisco - welcome to the Alameda Landing area.

At the north end of Webster Street, the main street running vertical on the west side of Alameda, you will find Alameda Landing - a 72-acre mixed-use development with a shopping center, Target, Safeway, a myriad of restaurants - from BBQ and pizza to Indian street food and sushi - and neighborhoods featuring newer housing. This area was the former Fleet Industrial Supply Center site for the U.S. Navy. The Naval base on Alameda closed in 1997. This area enjoys a rich naval history, which can be experienced at the nearby USS Hornet Museum.

The 305,000 square foot shopping center itself is a vibrant, busy gathering place. Between Target, Safeway, Michaels and Unleashed by Petco, most of your shopping needs may be met. Include a gym, a dental office, a mattress store, several mobile providers, and you may never have to leave the West End. We even hear that a Jamba Juice is slated to open soon. Check the directory to see all of the restaurants, services, and stores Alameda Landing offers.

Several neighborhoods consisting of newer-construction homes flank the side of the shopping center. Some of these family-friendly communities feature common-area gathering spots. The neighborhoods hold a small-town, close-knit community feel. The area is still being developed, with hundreds of new homes in the works.

Commuting options from the Alameda Landing area are varied and convenient. The Main Street Ferry terminal is just minutes away, and is a hub for commuters and city visitors alike. The ferry trip to San Francisco is approximately 20 minutes; to Jack London Square in Oakland just a 10 minute ride. There are two parking lots and a dog park adjacent to the terminal. Free transit shuttle service to Oakland’s 12th Street BART is provided from the shopping center during commute hours as well. More commute options to San Francisco include the nearby W and O transbay buses.

In the area, you will find the College of Alameda on its 59-acre campus. The College of Alameda is a two-year community college, and is part of the Peralta Community College District.

In & Out Burger is a popular destination here. When the eatery first opened in 2015 at this location, drive-through lines were down the street. Lines may have died down slightly, but give yourself a few extra minutes, as it typically is quite busy. Across Webster street to the east, the Marina Village Shopping Center offers additional retail and restaurant choices.

The Alameda Landing Waterfront will eventually include a world-class, 8-acre park along the half mile of shoreline. This is an exciting time in Alameda, as the Alameda Landing development brings energy, business, and residents to this changing and evolving part of the main island.
