Crown Harbor Neighborhood in Alameda
Crown Harbor is a small waterfront townhome community on the West End of Alameda, California, tucked beside Robert W. Crown Memorial State Beach, Crab Cove, and Ballena Bay. Built in 1980 and 1981, the gated neighborhood includes 76 townhomes along and around Crown Drive. The surrounding shoreline also has a long recreational history tied to Alameda’s early beach and amusement era, including nearby Neptune Beach, once known as the “Coney Island of the West.”
Today, Crown Harbor’s multi-level homes generally offer two to three bedrooms, with some approaching 2,000 square feet. Depending on the home, features may include private patios, balconies or decks, attached garages, vaulted or high ceilings, and views of San Francisco Bay. The waterfront setting also puts residents close to shoreline paths and some of Alameda’s most popular outdoor spaces.
Beach Days & Bay Trails Near Crown Harbor
Crown Harbor makes it easy to enjoy some of Alameda’s best waterfront recreation. The San Francisco Bay Trail runs through this part of Alameda, including approximately 2.5 miles of paved trail along Crown Memorial State Beach. The shoreline is a popular place for walking, biking, and taking in views across the Bay. Robert W. Crown Memorial State Beach is also right nearby, with a 2.5-mile sandy beach and warm, shallow Bay water. Visitors come for swimming, kayaking, sailing, picnicking, and other waterfront activities. Crab Cove, located at the western end of Crown Beach, adds a marine reserve and visitor center to the neighborhood’s outdoor offerings.
Waterfront Living & Community
Part of what makes Crown Harbor feel distinct is its smaller, organized community setting. The neighborhood is managed by the Crown Harbor Homeowners Association, and the community has also been known for its neighborhood emergency-preparedness efforts. With Crown Beach practically next door and Webster Street not far away, Crown Harbor offers a quieter residential pocket while still keeping Alameda’s West End restaurants, shops, waterfront spaces, and everyday conveniences close by.
